LEA29 -- Gem Preiz presents Sapiens, opening Wed January 10th at 1pmSLT

"Sapiens" is an installation which is not conceived to be visited but to get visitors lost.

It indeed explores the mythological theme of the labyrinth from which one cannot escape and which shelters unspeakable secrets. It takes here the shape of a network of inhospitable and uniform galleries textured with fractals, to which the verticality adds a crushing dimension.

Limited universe, locked like a prison;
Maze of interconnected passages similar to a brain where the thoughts turn in a loop without any solution;
Structure with inhuman size where the visitors face indecision, loss of marks, solitude;
Twofold architecture, the only alternative of which is a second entangled labyrinth of empty spaces jammed with the vain traffic of a hectic anonymous fleet;
this metaphoric build has nevertheless an exit, which the visitor is invited to look for and which will explain its title.

Fractals

Overall, the installation contains 40 high-resolution fractal frames, each one made of 18 plates carefully joined. They approach 4 themes which mirror the characteristics of the hosting build, and try to emphasize them :

- technology
- maze
- darkness
- confinement

Spread here and there in the tunnels, they will be met all along the exploration. Some of them might be seen several times, others might never be found. But at the very end of the visit, a complete catalog would enable visitors to watch the missed ones.

Information is given in the welcome hall for settings, how to visit and about the music.

Enjoy the visit until the end.

Dec 31    - 11:59pm SLT - The White Cliffs will quietly slip into the sea of our memories (SIM closes)

There is no joy without sadness.  Even when life becomes bliss, found all you need, true love, it will be taken.  Health and beauty, will be lost.  Success and goals reached, age breaks them down.  In this life, it's all temporary.  In the medieval days, religion is what carried people through this fact, their lives even shorter.  In modern days, it may be denial that keeps us going.  But in the early to mid 20th century, it was hope.

This SIM was built for you about that hope.  The hope you feel deep inside.  Yes, we put some of our healthiest young on the front lines, but the reason, they themselves believed, was worth fighting for.  And so many volunteered.

For centuries, The White Cliffs of Dover stood tall as a warning gate to hell.  Then as a beacon to home.  They remained throughout, although crumbling a bit in a few places. They never wavered.  They are not temporary.  So they gave so many ... hope.  But folks, it's not the cliffs that are great.

It is the human being.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for visiting and reminding us of our amazing humanity.
I will see you in the next world. ~ Tah

LEA24-Kicca Igaly and Nessuno Myoo EXODUS

Dear friends, Kicca Igaly and Nessuno Myoo are very happy to invite you to the event that closes the permanence of their installation "Exodus A Trip For Life" at LEA 24.

A touching text written and read by Duna Gant blends with the suggestive music of Ahnue Heartlight.

We are awaiting you to share together a definitely exciting moment.

Injured hands, lost gaze, broken skins, exhausted lives ...

Fleeing from poverty, misery
Travelling towards hope
and finding despair.
Travelling towards bread
and finding hunger.

Fleeing from fear, war.
Travelling towards light
and finding darkness.
Travelling towards life
and finding death.

Fleeing from fanaticism and hatred.
Travelling to the future
and find nothing.
Travelling towards freedom
and finding our door closed.

Their injured hands, their lost gaze, their broken skins, their exhausted lives ...
And our hands, our eyes, our skins and our empty lives.

                                                Duna Gant

Cari amici, io e Nessuno siamo molto felici di invitarvi all'evento che chiude la permanenza della nostra installazione " Exodus A Trip For Life " a LEA 24.

Un toccante testo, scritto e letto da Duna Gant si fonde alla musica suggestiva di Ahnue Heartlight.

Vi aspettiamo per condividere insieme un momento sicuramente emozionante.

Mani ferite, occhi persi, pelli rotte, vite esauste ...

Fuggire dalla povertà, dalla miseria.
Viaggiare verso la speranza
e trovare la disperazione.
Viaggiare verso il pane
e trovare la fame.

Fuggire dalla paura, dalla guerra.
Viaggiare verso la luce
e trovare l'oscurità.
Viaggiare verso la vita
e trovare la morte.

Fuggire dal fanatismo e dall'odio.
Viaggiare per il futuro
e  trovare niente.

Manos heridas, ojos perdidos, pieles rotas, vidas agotadas...

Huir de la pobreza, de la miseria.
Viajar hacia la esperanza
y encontrar desesperación
Viajar hacia el pan
y encontrar hambre.

Huir del miedo, de la guerra.
Viajar hacia la luz
y encontrar oscuridad.
Viajar hacia la vida
y encontrar muerte.

Huir del fanatismo y el odio.
Viajar hacia el futuro
y  encontrar nada.
Viajar hacia la libertad
y encontrar nuestra puerta cerrada.

Sus manos heridas, sus ojos perdidos, sus pieles rotas, sus vidas agotadas
y nuestras manos, nuestros ojos, nuestras pieles y nuestras vidas vacías.

LEA9 - The Lull by Starla Metaller

DATES: December 4th through December 31st
LOCATION:  LEA9 ---   http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/LEA9/32/29/21
ARTIST: Starla Metaller

*****************************************************
The Lull is the culmination of a three-month land grant from the LEA, where the space is navigated using an avatar as a tool to engage with the works and the space as a whole.

The focus of the work is an installation which comprises particle effects to create the impression of fog and flickering transparent coloured shapes to mimic projections, together with a representation of a projector and beam.  The audio emanates from the centre of a transparent object placed around ‘chest height’ on an average avatar, allowing for a degree of variation in the sound levels, sounding louder close to the centre of the installation, and quieter towards the edges of the space.

The Lull is also a gallery space in which works exploring the use of colour, light and material properties are displayed alongside an studio area showing early versions of objects which were created as part of the development of the installation.

You are invited to discover The Lull – An immersive gallery and installation space – officially open from Monday 4th December until Sunday 31st December.
